Can fresh water clams be added to a pond to help develope a balanced ecosystem? I have looked around for some info on this but haven't found much.

OK, before Robyn yells at me, I went and read your pages AFTER I posted! LOL

Of course she answered my questions, and gave me enough info so that I think I will not be putting these in my pond any time soon. :D

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!~

Just kidding! I don't yell via computer.

Clams are an interesting addition to ponds. They require either suspended algae or microorganisms aplenty in the water in order to survive. They can also host certain fish parasites for part of their life cycles. On the other hand, they are required to breed bitterlings who lay their eggs inside of freshwater mussels/clams.
