Hi.
I was wondering if anybody has some advice for me.
My turtle seems to be in love with a decorative tree trunk in his tank.
he spends most of his day "flirting " with it , he sits infront of it touches a specific spot (always the same one , and with a bit of imagination you cuold imagine it to be a turtle head ) noses it and does this thing with his claws.
Okay first it was funny now i am startng to worry , he doesn't show much intrest in anything else ,we even bought some feeder fish hoping it would distract him , but nothing we have tried works.
I don't wanna humanize my turtle , but i know from my cats that emotional things can effect their health , so what about a turtle who is in love with an object............is it normal and will he get over it or will his little psychy suffer?
I feel stupid to even mention it but Iam getting a bit worried
My two-year-old redbellied turtle doesn't even bother to flirt (wiggle his claws) at his fake log. He just gets down to business and mates with it! So, I think it's pretty normal for males to use an object as their "girlfriend." I wouldn't worry unless he's not eating. My turtle always wants to eat! If he won't eat, remove the tree trunk for a few days.
Hi,
My eleven-year-old turtle has had a "favourite stone",since he was three. He still recognise and loves it. First I was also worried, but Ozzy seemes to be happy and healthy, so I got used to it. Sometimes he likes to "dance" around it...
