Title: 300 Gallon Tank

AnimalLove - October 14, 2007 01:38 AM (GMT)
I am soon purchasing a 300 gallon tank, 6 feetlong, 2 feet wide, and 3 feet high. I'm not sure what type of animal to get, the tank would be going in my living room. What do you guys think?

Hi, I voted for freshwater tropical. But only as you didn't list goldfish, LOL. I don't like lizards etc. and I thought a turtle would limit you in such a large tank. The coral type idea would be super cool, if you have the time and money to build such a feature! We had a large fresh water tropical tank for quite a few years and the fish were so cool! They all had personalities and they became very tame. The cool thing is you can start them from little babies and watch them grow into some pretty cool BIG fish! In that size too, you wouldn't have to worry as much about the territory issues these fish possess! Good luck and please let us know your decision. I would love to do tropical again, but am so wrapped up with my Koi I don't have the time! Have fun with it :D

Hi there, I voted for freshwater tropical too just because I like looking at them and no other reason :)

Hey everybody! I ended up making it a freshwater tropical. Right now there are lots of neon tetra's cycling it. In about a month I'm going to put some type of cichlid in it ( havent decided what kind yet) leaning towards angels& discus, but theres not many good tankmates for them. Still thinking...

AnimalLove,

I find purchasing a tank not knowing what you want it for very interesting.
