Title: Carpet Algae

Hi folks :P I seem to be getting a lot of carpet algae but must admit it looks more natural than the pond liner, I've got about 20+ rams horn snails in there at the moment but they are not making any difference, I am hoping that the winter will slow it down but come the spring it will speed up again is there anything else i can add to the pond the more natural the better don't really like chemicals

Concentrated liquid barley, and beneficial bacteria.

MicrobeLift winter/autum prep is good. So far, I like all the MicrobeLift bacterias.

I've had the same thing to some degree. Seems to be normal this time of year.

The low grass-like algae on the liner is a good thing. It provides a home for good bacteria and microorganisms who in turn feed larger animals down the line to the fish. It also (being a plant) helps filter the water and provides oxygen during the day (but uses it at night).

For information on algae and controlling it, see http://www.fishpondinfo.com/plants/algae2.htm

The main things are lots of plants, good bacteria, good filtration, etc.
