Males usually display alongside other males. They're saying, "I'm cooler; no I'm cooler!" Males will flash (shake fins) at females but they don't flash back. Two males will do it side by side, pretty neat! How many white cloud mountain minnows do you have?

I have another problem i have a weather loach and i read on a website that they need finer gravel to burie themselves in so i did get finer gravel but its not burieing still and also its going a bit crazy such as swimming realy fast around the tank i have slight idea that it maybe distressed but its not showing any more signs than that or just maybe it takes a few days to burie
please reply fish lover
p.s//// my light on top of tank is not working i bought the tank from my local fish store called unicorn pet centre and asked for new lid about 3/4 times but he still hasnt gave me 1 thats quite enoying im gonna phone him tonight and ask once again lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure you have a female and not just a subordinate male? Females can flash back but it's not as likely as with males. Females may show their fins but they won't become as red and colorful as the males.
What kind of gravel did you get for the weather loach? I have this large particle white sand gravel that sounds like what the loach might like. The loach can also hide under plants, ornaments, etc. and doesn't have to bury itself.
I hope you get a light that works.

my gravel is quite fine but not as fine as sand because my goldfish will not like the sand plus i have a filter that digs in the ground so it would suck up the sand
p.s the corner shop thought my light bulb just wasnt working but its the whole light
section of the lid thats not working
pss what does subordinate mean

With many animals, there is a male who is in a charge, the alpha male. He is usually the largest and strongest male. He also does most of the breeding. The smaller ones are subordinates. They will concede to the main male and let him be in charge (of the group of animals and breeding). When the males are similar in strength, they fight to figure out who is the winner and gets to run the show or tank in this case. Since larger males may beat up on smaller males, sometimes subordinate males will "pretend" to be female so the larger males don't harm them. It is pretty common say in chickens (of which I have 5) for the subordinate rooster to even make female noises and keep a low profile to avoid being attacked by the rooster in charge. To go even further, in a few marine fish, the subordinate males can even turn into females who are able to breed as females.

I had zebra danios with white cloud mountain minnows for many years. The danios will not bother the minnows much as long as there's a school of each. How big is your tank? If there's enough room, add more danios. If not, either return them to the store or put them into another tank. Zebra danios do best with at least four of them.

80 cm long but what about how wide and deep? I can't calculate a volume or give an estimate of how many fish it might hold without all three dimensions. It's always great to get a new bigger tank!

That's ~15.8 gallons. If we're talking about white clouds, zebra danios, etc., if you keep less than 15 of those (in the end), that should be okay. Fewer is always easier to manage as far as keeping things clean. Certainly don't add 15 fish all at once though. Instead, just add say 5 of a schooling species together. Once they're ok for a month or so, and the tank is cycled, you can add more.

Im worried because when i got my new tank i transfered my old fish into the new tank and then bought different types of gold fish but then i already had my 2 minnows and 2 zebra danios so including the new goldfish i got 5 more danios. So now ive only got 2 minnows and they seem realy unhappy crunched in a top corner of the tank and the zebra danios somtimes gang up on the minnows and 1 even has a cut on its side should i get more minnows or what

For the minnows and danios as I said, no more than 1 per gallon can be done in the end. Goldfish are NOT in that group. They need at least 10 gallons each (and more when fully grown). How big are the goldfish? If they are over about 3 inches long, they are probably scaring the smaller danios. The goldfish need a larger tank without other fish. Not only can goldfish pester or eat smaller fish but other fish can also pester goldfish or rip their fins. Until you can move the goldfish out to a larger tank, do not get any more fish. If you can't move the goldfish, do not get any more fish. Goldfish can grow over a foot long in just a few years. You had not previously mentioned goldfish and an option, or I would have cautioned you against keeping them in a small tank and/or with smaller fish.

They are about 3 inches long but none of the fish seem to be bovered except the white cloud mountain minnows i do not know what to do with the mountain minnows because i have got a extra tank but nowhere to put it so i might just see what happens. It would be a shame if they cant survive. They seem happier today and een flashing colours at each other maybe it will turn out good in the end.
