Title: Robyn Do You Hold Your Sailfin Lizard?

Do you ever hold your sailfin lizard...and if you do...how?

I pick her up and move her every two weeks to clean the tank. I also pick her up to move her out of the way when I'm working in her tank. I just pick her up with my hand under her belly. She wraps her legs around my arm (and sometimes scratches me). On the way to the old slate-bottomed 20 gallon tank in the bottom where I put her while cleaning, she sometimes thrashes me with her tail. As long as she gets a good grip, she doesn't mind. If I stick her on my shirt, she grabs on tight, not so good for a female human to have a 3 foot lizard attached to her front with sharp nails so I only do that if I have to hold her for a long time like when the power goes out, and we're trying to keep her warm. My mother stuck her up her shirt once when the power was out, and the air temperature was below 50 degrees F in winter! I don't pick up my reptiles (Einstein the sailfin, Tator the turtle, and Fourmi and Papillon my two green anoles who are VERY hard to catch and/or hold) just to hold them, only to move them.

I'm sorry about your fantail. You can certainly have too many tanks. If you don't have the time to properly care for your tanks and animals, then you have too many. I know my limit but always keep myself near maximum number of animals somehow. My mother has bought many of my animals. Whenever someone dies, someone else seems to come along. My animals get A+ treatment so I'd rather have fewer with good treatment than lots of animals that I can't give the best care to.

You can trim the nails on an iguana. I've trimmed Einy's a few times. That makes scratch damage a little more tolerable. Iguanas aren't as spazy as sailfin lizards. I would say though that a baby iguana is going to be wanting to hop away more than Einy since Einy is older and wiser.

I had a baby snapper for almost a year. I never tried to hand feed him! I kept my fingers away from his mouth but did pick him up (by the sides of the shell) when cleaning like most of my animals.

Its okay..my mom LOVED that fish and even name her fluffy!!! LOL!!!it was a joke but anyways I only have like 3 tanks right now but with all my plans i will have about 12? tanks LOL!!!! Yea...i always give my animals the best care that i can provide for them to!!!! You had a snapping turtle..AWESOMENESS they are actually quite friendly when they get used to you but they are aggresive towards fish!! LOL!!! My Iggy will be getting a 250 gallon? aquarium and I'm putting it next door in my family room!!! Im running out of space in my room!!!
