Title: Need Help With 2 Baby Common Snappers
Description: snapping turtles

Hi,

Can anyone guide me to what I should do to care for two baby common snappers I found 2 weeks ago. I don't think they are eatting enough. I've been feeding them earth worms and chicken. I had to seperate them because one was attacking the other and nipping at its legs.... What type of enclosure should I keep them in....do they need a heater and how often and what types of food do they need? Is there anyway to keep them together without them eatting each other?
Thanks! I would let them go but I think it is too cold up here in new england.....

Check out these pages on my web site for information on how to fix up their setup and more:

I suggest feeding live blackworms. If you want them to eat well, set a heater at 70 to 75 degrees F. If it's cooler, they'll eat less. Turtles can bite at each other and even rip off legs or worse. I've never kept more than one turtle in one container so hopefully someone else will give you some advice there.
