My tetra ALWAYS has to be by the goldfish not so much chasing and no nipping or pushing he acts like he is in love. It does wierd movements by the goldfish like leans into to her/him I would say the tetra is a boy and carni (the goldfish) is a girl from watching the interactions.

Now Carni could careless for the tetra but my concern is when I move carni to the pond in the spring will the tetra need a buddy? no other tetras in the aquarium.

Thanks

Hhhhmmm, that is funny! It never ceases to amaze me what 2 different animals will "fall in love". I think as long as there are other fish in the tank once the goldfish leaves the tetra will be fine. That is odd that the tetra doesn't nip at the goldfish though, huh!!!!

The tetra is probably picking the closest thing to another tetra in the tank to spend time with. I do suggest getting some more of the same species if you can but only after the goldfish is out in the spring.
