I've been reading about the Wakin goldfish on the Internet and am interested in putting a few into my 670 gallon pond (Koi and goldfish). I especially like their beauty, their hardiness and the fact that they are so popular in Japan and China.
Does anyone have any experience with them? My local fish place has never heard of them and tells me they can't get them.
Here is one of the articles I've been reading:

I've never had a Wakin myself. They are one of the many breeds of fancy goldfish. Fancy goldfish can live in ponds but they are more apt to have problems with such things as cold water in winter, predators (who catch them more easily), and spawning damage (especially if there are single-tailed goldfish with the fancy ones). You can certainly try some in your pond (that is if you can find a place to buy them) but they are more delicate so they may not survive as readily as your regular goldfish.
Good luck!
