christina2lehner - January 7, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
It was nice nice nice out today and all the fishies were up and swim'n around like spring water temp still only 40 but they were out and about they all look healthy still a little slow but I got to sit by the pond and watch without freezing to death.

Sorry KK. LMAO I am sure you still are with polar caps in your pond.

C2 it sounds like you have the same weather as me right now! I feel for those guys that live close to the North Pole ;) I think KK could see Santa from where she lives.  I heard she was going to start an ice skating rink! It's nice to see the guys swimming around isn't it? I started to freak out when they came to the top. I thought the pond water was to cold for them at 40 degree!

C2 . In your topic title on the main board, I thought you were saying" Oh my, I am 68 years old today". And I thought , "She looks not a day over 22". ;)

Anyway it was 43 degrees in Ontario today and my water temp. is 39.2 degrees.
No ice yet.

I know!!! I am on the downward spiral to SPRING!!! YIPEEEEEEE!!! I dreamt last night about the clay pond and it was spring and it was full of amazing koi of all colours. Very unrealistic but fun! You guys are going to get so sick of hearing about my fish once I can actually see them! But that is still at least three months away before I will get a gimpse of them :(

The babies that I did rescue from the clay pond are growing big and getting really orange now in the aquarium. I have one very neat one that is white with some nice orange makings. The koi that I bought in the fall are growing too. Pumpkin is already 6"!

It was 70 degrees F here today in MD. There were little frogs around my pond that hopped in. The fish luckily didn't beg for food, or I might have fed them. It's going to be in the 60's tomorrow and then back to the 40's (normal). The coldest it was ever here at our house was this time of the year; it went to -10 degrees F. The TV people keep saying how great the warm weather is. While it's nice not to have to worry about cold, freezing, and so on, it's not great for the animals and plants that are awakened and hungry (with not much to eat). The forsythias and other spring flowers probably will set flowers which will then be killed by frost. Then, there are no flowers in spring.
