Description: Balls Falls

wayne r - January 9, 2008 01:33 AM (GMT)
This is Balls Falls. I live about a 3 min. walk away and grew up here.
The water falls 90 ft. Google Balls Falls images.
There is also another falls one half mile up stream which I use to jump off of. It is 30 ft high.
My wife calls my garden pond "Baby Balls Falls"

Whats so funny?

Just showing the scenery where I live.
If you walk along that road for 3 min you come to my property.

Hey WW, that is one very cool picture! Thanks for sharing. It is always neat to see a different geographical landscape!

WW, for those of us that are to lazy to google, how did the falls get it's name? It's an odd one. You are so lucky to live near there. That might explain why you have a good eye for water, falls and how to put it together so it looks good. Starting to hate you again! :)

KK, I was just looking at the pic again and the house on the left kinda looks like yours!!

OK, I just googled Balls Falls and found the answer. Is this in the area of Niagara Falls right??

PG, I see you have a new Avatar picture. Very nice!!

The Ball brothers. Found George Ball ... couldn't find any other name(s).

Looking at the map ... Wayne, is that picture of the upper falls or lower falls?

Interesting shape to it.

That right tic. This is called the 20 mile creek . It got its name cause it is 20 miles from the Niagara River. Both flow into Lake Ontario.

Now for Waynes skill testing question of the week.

How did the 18 mile creek get its name?

The Ball family bought 1200 acres in the 1700s from the government.
In 1967 the Ball family gave about 300 acres to the conservation authority for a historical park. Hence the name

I'll bite!! :)

The name actually refers to the distance from the head of Lake Erie at Buffalo and not the commonly believed length.

BTW, WW, I assume you mean Niagara County's Eighteen Mile Creek and not the Eighteen Mile Creek in Queensland, Australia. B) B)

So WW when do we get the answer? hummmm???

Waiting, waiting, waiting......

Hi tic. You will have to excuse my Dry scene of humour. I can be so stupid sometimes. Thanks for tolerating me.
It wouldn't matter were the creeks were. In the context of my post, if the 20 creek got its name for being 20 miles away from point x , than the 18 mile creek (which we have) would be 18 miles away from the same point x.

You are right about the Niagara County 18 mile creek.( I didn't know about that one) But that runs into Lake Eire and is on the US side not the Canadian.
Hope I can still buy a calander

Bet you don't get into as much trouble with a dry humour as I do with a dirty sense of humour. Working in a factory for 30 years has put my brain in the gutter. <_<

WW, I first thought that maybe that's what you were getting at but thought what the heck I'll look it up. I am a sucker for trivia anyhow. What can I say I have a dull, dull life. I need to get out more! :)
