Almost all so-called "mystery snails" are apple snails. Apple snails are sexual, either male or female. Females lay eggs above the water line. See http://www.applesnail.net for everything you could possibly want to know about them!

They will breed in an aquarium but better success is had in ponds. They don't survive below about 50-55 degrees F so they can't stay in a pond in winter where it gets colder than that. If you look on the forum, there are some threads about people who had apple snail eggs and/or babies and what they did.

Hi!

I have really tried to find the information I needed on that site (and on many other..), but I couldn't. Please tell me, how big my apple snails should be, to lay eggs? I would like to have baby apple snails:)

It depends on the species since they vary in size. If we're talking about the typical apple snail that grows to about 2 to 3 inches in diameter, then they should be able to breed by the time they are 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter. Apple snails seem to need to be mostly full grown before laying eggs, at least from what others have told me.
