Hi,
I've just got a round fish bowl with a 1 meter diameter about three quaters of the way up. I've currently got two common goldfish living in there. I don't know how many gallons the bowl holds and I was wondering if there is enough room in there for the two fish.
I would estimate the bowl at somewhere between 7 - 8 Gallons but as I've found out this is not necessarily as important as the surface area.
Through my basic math skills, I reckon the surface area a is about 772cm squared which seems a hell of a lot to me, but what do I know!
what do you reckon?

If you can provide the actual dimensions of the bowl (depth as well as diameter at various locations), I can do an estimation of the volume in gallons through the calculator my brother made on my site (http://www.fishpondinfo.com/convert.htm). Most bowls are small so I'm a little confused by one a meter across. If we say the bowl is a large 8 gallons, it's still below the recommended 10 gallons per goldfish as adults for one fish so your two fish will outgrow the bowl within a few years. I have common goldfish over a foot long. How big are the goldfish now? Without that information, I can't say if they are already overcrowded. I'm sure they wouldn't complain if you got a 20+ gallon tank or a pond for them. Good luck!
