Does anyone in a cold winter climat have any Wakin's in their pond? Am just wondering if they are tough enough to last the winter outside. From what I can find to read they should be ok, but it is always better to hear from someone who has them! :D

I don't have wakins but I do have one blue oranda that I have had for about 5 years and he survives in water temp. as low as 34 degrees.

Ahhh, good to know, those are very nice fish as well!

I've never had a Wakin. When I started my 1800 gallon pond, I put in 3 black moors and 6 fantails I think (and also a few more the following year). Within just a few years, they were all gone. I can't say if they lost out from the cold winters or more likely from predators who find them easier to catch. My pond only has single-tailed goldfish now.

I miss my blue oranda I had in my aquarium years ago. His name was Quinn (after a character on the TV show Sliders; I had fish with names of the other characters from the show too (goldfish Wade, koi Remmy); Colin and Maggie, my two koi, are the only ones left with that name set).

The show moved to cable from FOX where it started. I can't get cable. At first, some guy off the internet mailed me tapes of the show, and then my brother got cable. The original four characters were Quinn (male lead), Wade (female lead), Remmy (black guy), and the Professor. I think they got rid of Wade first. She reappeared in a later episode as just a head?! Then, they got rid of the Professor. Then, Quinn got stuck in some dimension between dimensions, and Jerry O'Connell who played him left. I've been watching his new show, Carpoolers; he's hilarious. His brother came on in later shows as Colin. Maggie played by Kari Wuhrer was the new female lead; I liked her. The last season, there was some guy I don't remember. Only Remmy lasted the entire show.
