I was bored and looked up Koi on Wikipedia and found this:
The word "koi" comes from the Japanese, simply meaning "carp." It includes both the dull grey fish and the brightly colored varieties. A homophone of koi means "love, affection" and koi are therefore symbols of love and friendship in Japan: a good example is the short story Koi-san by Mukoda Kuniko.
I thought it was interesting. You learn something new everyday. :)

If my DH (dear husband) bought me a fish (even a 27 cent goldfish) for our anniversary I would give him a big fat kiss!  I would think that you would win lots of points with that idea!! Maybe one fish for each year that you are married?? You may need a bigger pond though.... ;)
