We are new to the mollusk world. But from reading your forum, it's safe to say that we have a large cluster of snail eggs on the side of our aquarium. I understand that in 3-6 weeks we should have babies. However, I didn't see anywhere..Do we need to provide shells for them? Also we have a beta fish in the tank. Does he pose a risk to the eggs? Should he get a private tank?

Are these eggs in or out of the water? Eggs out of the water that are snail eggs are apple snail eggs. Otherwise, they are other species. Do you know what species that you have? Snail eggs can hatch in a few weeks but some like apple snails may take a month or even two.

Just like turtles, snails make their own shells; they're part of their bodies. So, you don't need to give them shells for that but you should keep up the calcium levels in the tank. You can do that by adding some crushed oyster shell or crushed coral or cuttlebone in a mesh bag to the filter or in the substate.

Bettas can and will eat small snail eggs that they can get to but, if you have a lot of eggs, he won't get all of them. How big is the tank?

Good luck snaily!
