Description: Somebody take pity on me.
tlc - March 7, 2008 11:28 PM (GMT)
I can't get the #!%*&*&!! search to work!  I keep getting an error every darn time I try a search word. What the heck am I doing wrong??? I put in the search term and hit go and then BAM I get the error message: Sorry, the administrator has taken the search engine offline for the moment. Please try again later .... <_< Is it broke??
I must be dummer than a post.

That's so weird! I have never been able to use the search engine, and suddenly it works!

Holy mackerel!
Thanks Tia, I didn't know we had a forum search engine available ... not that it works for me either.
Got the same error message you did.
I searched for "goldfish" ... so I think it's broke.
...oh, just saw AL's reply. So it works for some .... hmmm .... <_<

Ok, I feel better now that I know that I am not the only one. :)
No sure why it works for some but not others?? AL must have a lighter touch on the keys or sits a little differnent while typing ;)
PG, try crossing your legs and arms when you type and maybe tilt your head to the left. See if that works. :P

It still doesn't work.
All it did was make it difficult to type ... because my arms are crossed and everything is at a slant.
Plus, it just doesn't seem right to cross my legs .... very uncomfortable. :o

I didn't realize there was a search either till this subject was brought up. It's good to have especially if you have a fish or equipment emergency. So I tried it last night and today and it worked for me. Searched on frogs and up came 10 pages.Does that make me special? or maybe the puter at least? Are you guys on dial-up? Maybe Robyn has and answer here? Also how do you post those cute little yellow faces?

I think I pulled a muscle following Tlc's advise, but I did get it to work!

I never noticed the "search" before either. I just tried it and it works just fine. I have high speed internet, DSL, I think they call it.

OK PG, then maybe we haven't eaten enough cookies ;)
It has to be either a cookie setting or security setting. That's my guess since crossing your arms and legs didn't work!
Orrr some people are special!  ;)

Tia,
Are you using the Search in My Assistant, or the Search at the top of the forum page with the little magnifying glass?
When I replied before I was using the one in My Assistant, and that's the one that gave the error message.
The one at the top of the forum page works just fine. It opens another browser and gives the option to search the web, or search the message board.
It's through Google.

I just checked my search (at the top of the forum), and it "works" for me. I say "works" because I know for a fact that it doesn't pick up all the posts with a given word in it. I'm not sure what they've done to it but it's not very good. I've used in a few dozen times. For example, when someone asked about dinosaur eels, I searched for that, and the post I wanted didn't come up. I then spent 5 minutes going through posts to find the post I wanted which did have that word but the search hadn't picked up on it. You can certainly used the search just know that it won't get all the hits. It will consider singular and plural nouns as different words too. So, if you want information on frogs, search for frog and frogs because one won't pick up on the other and vice versa.

PG, I was using the search at the bottom right side of the page in the category that I wanted to search in. :'( The #$%!*! thing will not work! <_<
I just checked out the search at the top right with the little magnify glass and it works!
I forgot it was there. I am dummer than a post.
I do agree that the search does suck a little but it's better than no search at all. :)
I have DSL too! :P :P :P (I just thought I would announce it since KK did)

Froggy, the smileys should be to the left in the screen that you type your post in. Just click on one that you like and it will be put where ever your typing cursor is. You can click preview post (below the window that you type your post in) to see what it will look like. Oh and to see the click-able smileys to the left of where you type your post, you have to first make sure a check in the box that says: Enable emoticons or you won't see them. That is located below the window that you type your post in too!
Sorry I missed your question I was obsessed with that darn search thing.
Hope this helps. :)

That darn thing won't work for me! It hates me!
I am starting to hate it too.
Oh well I guess I'll have to use the one at the top. The bottom is for the gifted.
