Title: Hey There!

mariaelena - March 28, 2008 05:41 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone, my name's Mary and I absolutely adore fish! I've kept fish for about a year and a half now. I started off with a betta in one of those vases (I was totally clueless about fish then) and when it died the next day I started researching about fish. Since then I've kept loads of bettas, guppies, platies, cories, convicts and several other fish. But bettas and guppies have definatley been my strong point. I know lots about fish, but in the last couple of months a bacterial infection spread through my fish and sadly I have lost many of my beloved aquatic critters :( :( . The only fish I have left are 2 male guppies, flame and unnamed, 1 red and 1 yellow, 2 guppy "teenagers" both unnamed, 1 male betta, Kyle (this was actually my 2nd fish, my 1st died a couple of months ago from a tumor that spread through his body :( ) and 1 convict male, Racer. And yes, I name my fish :P
The bettas I've had in the past have been several, here's to them...
Kenni, my first betta, a blue and lavander vt
Gabriel, a blueberry cheesecake ct, he actually was the father of my first spawn, but the eggs never hatched :(
Crimson, a red butterfly hm male. He was being conditioned for a spawn when he died ( only a week after I got him).
Shiro, a cambodian female hm. She was so teeny <3 died from bacterial infection :( She was Crimson's sister.
Shiro's sister, a red hm female. She was quite spunky :P Also died from bacterial infection.
Bombay, a black, green and red male vt rescue, died the day after i got him, have no clue why.
Unnamed, pretty yellow and orange vt male, my mom gave him to me as a gift last month, my cat made his bowl fall and ripped his fins, we put him back in a bowl but i guess there was too much shock, he died the next day.
Boris, green and blue vt, got him along with Unnamed, my cat made his bowl falls at night and in the morning we found him dead :(
Well, sorry for the long read, just wanted to remember all my bettas... anyways, I hope I can visit this forum regularly...

Hi Mary! Welcome to the board! :)

Sorry to hear about all your troubles. That is a real bummer :(

I don't have an aquarium so can't be of ANY help but there has been lots of talk on here lately about them. I wish I could have one but I have no room so mine is outside and maybe that is the way it should be for me. :)
It's not weird at all to name your fish. If you want to see weird read some of R3D posts ;)

Anyway welcome.

Tia

I HEARD THAT!

;)

Nice to meet you Maria. Welcome, and please don't pay any attention to Tia. She forgot her hockey helmet today. :P

I'm sorry about the fish you've lost recently. What were their symptoms? What treatments did you try? Were these mostly male bettas in bowls? What kind of water change and treatments did you use? You've had a lot of bettas!
