Title: Brainy Fish ? New Catfish Learning Fast !!
Description: Catfish learning to get more grub !!!

I have a new catfish, don't know what breed it is dark grey back white tummy and black round spots all over body and belly.
I saved him from a tank wher he was living in stagnant water with no heat or food.
I have had him for a month and at first he ate and acted like a normal cat fish hiding away and eating food from the bottom odf the tank. But he is now copying my plecos and feeding from the top of the tank and he loves pond pellets, flake food and frozen food especially bloodworms !!.
Many people say fish are dumb and have no memory or real learning capacity, my plecos and catfish seem to prove them wrong !!.
I would relly like to know if anyone else has has similar experiences where their fish learn new and crative ways of eating that is not what they normally do.
One of my plecos foe example eats on his back at the top of the tank to stop the other one eating his algae pellet !!!

It makes me mad that "fact" that always goes around that goldfish only have a 3 second memory I think it is that they say? How then do my fish know when it's time to eat and know it's me? If anyone else goes by the tank or pond, the fish ignore them. If I go by at the wrong time of the day, they ignore me. When it's me and the right time of the day, the fish all spaz at the surface before I even put the food in. So, they can both tell time and identify people. That makes them pretty smart!

Yeah all my fish from my tiny tropicals right up to my goldfish all seem more exited when I look in the tank, coz they know I'll feed them.
In fact to learn by copying others is said to be a trait that only higer animals posess!!!.
I.e that is how babies learn to talk or dolphins learn to hunt, so my Pioneering pleco that eats fish food rather than his pellets has now created a catfish culture in my tank wher they all now do it !!
Fish are smarter than people say they are !!!! FACT

I heard the same thing ... 3 second memory for goldfish.
Somehow I doubt that too.

When my wife goes out to the pond, the fish scram. When I go out there, the fish swim to the top.

Once she asked me to go to one end of the pond while she stayed at the end where they normally get fed.
They went with me. They know who feeds them.
