Title: When To Move Lily?

ScampersSharon - March 30, 2008 01:53 PM (GMT)
I can see my one and only lily resting comfortably near the bottom of the pond and it's starting to sprout it's second leaf.........I can only tell because they're red. I'm not sure what the water temp is beyond COLD, the temp drops below 0C every night still and gets to 10 during the day if we're lucky. When do I dare bring the darn thing up I don't want the fish to munch on it!

SS,
What depth is the lily pot at right now?

My pond is only 3 feet deep, so my lilies don't get moved unless I'm going to repot them.

Can't the fish eat the lily in the deep end too? Once the ice is off the surface of the pond (and will stay that way), you can bring the lily higher up in the water column. I'm in a warmer climate so my lily pots stay put all year.

Duh............the fish have probably been munching on it all winter, but I did cut it back A LOT before I sunk it. We 'should' be past major snow now, but then we didn't expect the last foot of the stuff either!

Ooh, wait till the water is warm enough to paddle, perhaps?
