Hello all you Rubel fans! I just received my copy via mail of the 2008 magazine with Wayne's article and photo's (Wayne and his lovely wife included) you all have never before seen on this form. So I suggest if you want a copy post your request on this thread and I am sure Wayne will sent you a copy. Cost is a mere $15.00 which includes postage. What a deal! :P :P

Do you have a Paypal account Wayne?

tlc - April 3, 2008 12:11 AM (GMT)

Can I still email the editor and ask WW?

Congrats on your magazine article. What month is that issue. I would like to purchase it. Fortunately I live in Ontario and have read that magazine before. I have borrowed them along with many others from the library and they carry usually a couple of years of back issues and you can keep them for 3 weeks. Its an excellent magazine.

Hi Fm3
Glad you got the copy.

My computer died last week , so that is why I haven't been posting.
Right now I am using my daughters.
I should be up and running this week.

wayne r - April 8, 2008 03:06 AM (GMT)
Sure I would be glad to send a copy to anyone for $15.00 to cover my cost.

Seems like a lot of money to see some nut playing in the water. haha

I don't have paypal.
Just email your mailing address and I will get one in the mail for you. You can mail the check when you recieve the mag. ( If you can't trust a pond person: who can you trust.)

megan: the artical is in the annual addition. It came out in Feb. and will be on the shelf all year. So far I have only seen it sold at Chapters and Shoppers Drugmart.

T: You can email the editor but she hasn't gotten back to me for 4 weeks now.

Fm3 Got your check. Thanks

I was wondering the same thing .... since the US $ has taken such a hit globally.

Thanks for asking, but lets not dwell on nickles and dimes.

I just need address from anyone interested and I will let you know the day I mail it.

I will reply back to any emails within 12hr.

Please try again.

Route3drummer - April 10, 2008 11:01 PM (GMT)
You must not have gotten my email either then?

Robyn - April 10, 2008 11:17 PM (GMT)
The e-mail function works for me. You guys should check that your e-mail is correct in your profile. If it is, maybe your SPAM blocker is routing the e-mail as SPAM since it's from the "forum" entity.

tlc - April 10, 2008 11:20 PM (GMT)
WW, you didn't get mine either then :(

Robyn, my email addy doesn't show up in my profile. How come?

Robyn - April 10, 2008 11:26 PM (GMT)
TLC, when I click on your e-mail, it won't show me your actual e-mail for privacy reasons but then I can send a message. You should be able to see your own e-mail in your setup somewhere. I've used the e-mail feature this week to send you messages to which you replied.

Wayne,
I sent an e-mail via the message board.
Then I saw your last post, and sent another with that address just afterwards.

Thanks sv. But don't say some day. Say this summer. Invitation is alway open.
Its a common occurrence around here to look in our backyard and see a neighbor with 5or 6 guessed; just out for a walk, and stopped in unannounced to see the pond. We love it.

Pool Guy - April 19, 2008 02:34 PM (GMT)
Wayne,
Got the magazine in the mail yesterday evening.
Only took 4 days to get here. I was guessing about a week.

Great pictures & article! Every time I turned a page my wife said "Wow!" over my shoulder.

The red hot poker flower picture lets me know what I have in my yard.
A neighbor gave me one of those three years ago, but didn't know what it was.
None of my friends were able to identify it either. Internet seaches didn't help. Now I know!

The check is in the mail! (today)

Thanks again.
:)

I can't wait to get mine! I know it is in the mail :)
I feel like a little kid waiting for the icecream truck. ;)
Waiting, waiting, waiting...

wayne r - April 19, 2008 11:24 PM (GMT)
Thank PG.
The Red Hot Poker or Torch Lily Is one of my favorites.

tlc - April 19, 2008 11:45 PM (GMT)
I have a Red Hot Poker plant in my yard too. I used to have one that would bloom all summer as long as I kept it well watered. It finally died. I bought a new one two years ago and it didn't bloom all summer like my old one did. I am hoping that this year it will as it will be more established. It looks cool when there is hummers zipping around. :)
I haven't been able to find much info about caring for them. I just water it like heck.

PG, you changed your avatar again. This one is a nice one too :)
Tia

wayne r - April 19, 2008 11:48 PM (GMT)
That was my only complaint with it. Not enough bloom.

Will do that tomorrow. Sorry for the delay Wayne. My favorite part was the "fish cylinder"! Such a basic concept, but who would ever have though of doing that! LOL...

PG . Yes ,thanks , I got the check this week. Enjoy.

R3d ,thanks for the update.

Sorry I haven't been online much lately.

I just got back from visiting my son and his wife in Bowlingreen Kentucky and it is a busy time of year for me at work and at play.
I do find time to read about all your guys anticks though, for a little pickmeup.

frogman3 - May 1, 2008 12:51 PM (GMT)
WW you drove right on by me in Ohio just a hop and a skip from interstate 75 and didn't stop to work some of your magic on my ponds. :o How many miles is that?

R3d - I see that your check came a few days ago. Thanks.
Now that the smell of burning rubber has left it ,I will now take it to the bank. KIDDING!

wayne r - May 1, 2008 11:37 PM (GMT)
Fm3 - You know as I was driving on 75 I thought, I wounder were frogman lives.
When we stopped for the night at a motel. I seen the phone book and thought, I should call him. But didn 't want to appear like a stalker.
Any how , maybe next time.
Its about a 12 hr drive from home to Bg. so flying looks awful appealing.
He is talking about moving to Dallas Texas in the next couple years.

Hey Wayne & Tia,
This is the plant in my yard that I think is the Red Hot Poker, or Torch Lily.

tlc - May 4, 2008 02:27 PM (GMT)
Yep, that's what it is all right :) It should be a beauty again this year.

swampview - May 4, 2008 02:42 PM (GMT)
Hi Pool Guy

I have that in my garden also and it's not that nice or tall.I planted it 2 years ago so I guess I will wait and see what happens this year. How long ago did you plant yours?

swampy

Pool Guy - May 4, 2008 03:10 PM (GMT)
Hi Swampy,
My neighbor gave me that plant three years ago. At that time it had two blooms on it.
So it was fairly mature at the time. Each year it seems to get a couple more blooms.
Right now it has about seven small pods starting to emerge. Hope it's got few more on the way! :)

Hi Tia, Thanks for verifying! :)

I just looked at the pic again and noticed on the right side that there is an agapantha bloom starting. (it's a little blurred)
Those are nice to look at too! We've got the purple ones & white ones. As well as the dwarf version (Peter Pans).
