Title: Anyone Ever See A Frout???!
littlenessie - April 2, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
Last night on the news they had a story that was kind of funny. Some ice fishermen had video of a rare kind of furry fish. The camera was all shaky and you couldn't really get a good look at it. They consulted a fish expert who said it was a rare type of Frout (a furry trout fish). And the most unusal thing about it was that it was almost never found this far south, apparently it's normally found near Alaska. LOL! Yep, it turned out to be an April Fools Day joke but I wish I could have found a picture of it. If you went fishing and caught ANYTHING that ever looked like that fake furry fish did, I highly doubt anyone in their right minds would consider eating it!!

I'm not sure why they called it all a "joke". The Frout has been getting caught around here for a long time.

Derrick I'd say your new aquarium fish has got some serious bacterial growth going on there in the tail area. Better exchange that one for sure. Watch out for those horns. :D :D

Oh heck yeah, I've heard of them. I've seen plenty of Frout in my day.
It's pronounced "Frrr-out" for all of you youngsters out there.
I have caught a few too! You just use a stick with some red yarn (has to be red)with a paperclip tied on the end of the yarn and a piece of corn (green works best) on the end of the paperclip. You have to bob the stick up and down in the water real slow like. Make sure you use a strong stick but with a little flex on the tip. When they strike just give her a yank.! Frout taste just like chicken too!

Hey! you found a cool pic of it. :) Maybe the Frout the icefishermen caught was more rare and unusual because it had a bright green head and darker brown fur? I am guessing because of the rariety of catching a Frout, they replaced their Frout with one that was already taken to a Taxidermist and totally reenacted the video of the catch to make it more exciting for the news?
So tlc, you are actually admitting to having eaten one??? How do you clean one before you eat it... with dog grooming clippers or a regular razor? hehehe... I am not being rude by asking that, inquiring minds need to know :)

Well LL, that is a very good question. I'm glad you brought it up ;)
What I do is use the horse/dog clippers to clip them first. This can be quite a chore I must say! I then attach a surgical blade to the clippers to remove the remain hair. After all the hair is removed you clean as normal (I won't go into to detail as I might have to barf).
Do keep in mind (if you ever catch one) that the hair is very, very course and may take some time to remove (you may need more help).
And yes LL I have eaten my share and they taste EXACTLY like chicken. ;) ;)
