Title: Fishpondinfo Meeting
Description: Anyone want to meet?
Robyn - April 7, 2008 02:13 PM (GMT)
There was discussion among some members before about having a meeting of some of our members in the flesh. With my animals and job, I can't travel myself. I was wondering if anyone might want to have a get together near me at any time? I was thinking something like seeing my ponds and then visiting either the National Aquarium or Lilypons Water Gardens. I live 20 minutes from Baltimore City and an hour from Washington, D.C. so there are tons of places to visit if someone out of state or country wanted to visit. What do you think? I'm nutzo?
I had today off which is why I finally posted the three messages in this section today.

I think it is a great idea! Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view) I am just to darn far away.....but I would expect pictures of the event!!!!!

I'd like to do that too, but also live far away and will be moving even farther soon. It's too bad though; I bet your ponds are beautiful IRL.

We could come visit you KK. :) Just let us know when it isn't 32 below. ;)
Traveling this summer is going to be so.... expensive I saw oil reached 120.00 barrel today, guess where gas will be going. Airlines are not booking more than a few months in advance due to fears of fuel price increases. So I guess each of us will just have to build our own little piece of paradise.
:D :D FM3

I wish it were within driving distance. I've never been to our nation's capital, or Maryland. Sounds nice!
This time around I'll have to say no. Maybe when I retire. (come on SuperLotto!!) :)
I not much on flying ... if I never set foot on an airplane again I wouldn't miss it.

It's a bunch of soggy, floating ground? LOL
All I can say is living so close to the American border I have drank many different brands, from Miller to Coors, to Bud (because it is about 1/2 the price that we pay in Canada), and there really is no comparison. We make the best hockey players and the best beer....you can have everything else. ;) :P

Yes you really have to look hard to find American beer that even compares to Canadian. But I would be willing to send all your lovley Canadian Geese back home to you Postage paid. :) All they do is erode the banks to the ponds here at work and P**P everywhere and hiss at you when you walk by them. The women love them, go figure. <_<

R3D3, none of the US "beer" that you mention is really beer. That's just horse p!$$ so my DH says. If you want a real US beer then you have to have Deschutes Black Butte Porter or one of their other beers, so he tells me.
Annnndd you guys really do have the BEST hockey players :)
FM3, I love Geese as long as they aren't too close to me and aren't in my backyard! :P

Let's put it this way you can't walk around the pond unless you wear a pair of megan's boots. :o

I happened to be in Columbus about a month ago and someone made me go to a pub and partake in the beverages they were serving. The golden ale that I was forced to drink was named "Tire biter" Quite good, anyone heard of it?

Never heard of it. I think it is the same everywhere though; small/local breweries always make a much better product than the super large international ones do.
kENNY - April 16, 2008 03:05 AM (GMT)
I would, But I live in FL which is VERY far away and I freeze at 80 degrees. Sorry robyn, Id also help you with your big pond...which reminds me, I have to clean my 75 gallon pond tommorow.
KoiKrazy - April 18, 2008 05:32 PM (GMT)
How did you guys turn a pond meeting into a beer tasting discussion??? And....how did I miss THIS thread for sooo long. My favourite beer by far is Newcastle Brown Ale. However, I vote we all fly to cuba for a meeting and discuss ponds while sampling all the wonderful rum they have to offer ;)
Seriously though.............It would be so cool to be able to tour all of our ponds. Thank goodness for the technology of the computer. Could you imagine if we all had to be penpals??? LOL LOL LOL The jokes just wouldn't be nearly as funny!
