Title: Musk Turtles

catandsyd - April 10, 2008 12:49 AM (GMT)
Hi, I have 4 musk turtles that I've had since they hatched. 2 of them seem to be growing slowly, but the other 2 have barely grown at all. I watch them all eat, so I know they are eating - does anyone else have stinkpots? Are they slow growers? I would love to hear anyone's advice and/or stories!

Hi Catandsyd! Welcome to the forum! :)
If you want stories you will get plenty of those on this forum!
I don't have turtles so can't answer but there are turtle people that will be on here later that might be able to help you out.
Here is a link to Robyns turtle page just in case you haven't seen it http://www.fishpondinfo.com/turtles/index.htm
Turtles are so, so cute aren't they?

Musk turtles are a very small turtle only maxing out at 4 - 4.5 inches.

Yep there very slow growers, I have baby musk hatchlings too and they have grown some but not alot. Also nothing wrong with other 2 growing a little faster, turtle like humans grow at different rates and male and female factors of influence too.

Musk turtles or stinkpots are small turtles. They grow incredibly slow. I've had people e-mail me that their turtles are say 10 years old and still just a few inches long! They only grow 3 to 6 inches long at most. I've never had a stinkpot but they are cute little guys. They mostly like to eat small animals like insect larvae.

Good luck with them!

Thank you everyone for your reply's! It makes me feel better knowing they are slow growers, because otherwise they seem happy and healthy. We love our little stink pots! Thanks again.
