Description: KK's HAPPY :-)

Okay all, it is TRUE!!!! Tonight at 6pm, I personally saw 3 little goldfish in the clay pond! 2 were sooo small, like just over an inch long and the other one was about 2 1/2 inches long! I don't know how this miracle happened. You know my winter temps and the water was only 14 inches deep. There was no aeration and no hole in that ice at all. I AM SOOOOO HAPPY! Tomorrow I am going to go harrass my other pond and see what I can stir up in there :-) HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

It's been four hours now since I saw the fish and I am still sitting here completely stunned! I just can't wrap my head around how they survived! I wonder if I have like 3,000 in there still or what? I don't get how those little tiny babies could survive even in the best of conditions for that long, let alone in the worst conditions possible known to goldfish. Well, the best I can come up with is.....the last time I went down to the pond in the Fall, I stood out on my little warf and cried and cried because I felt so bad for the little guys and I knew they wouldn't make it and it made me so sick and I said like a little prayer for them and walked away crying my little heart out. I think the fish God's took pity on me, LOL I don't care how it happened, I am just THANKFUL!
I hope you guys don't all think I am NUTS, but seriously, I just love all my animals so much!

Odds are you didn't see the only 3 fish in the pond. I am sure there are lots more.

I don't think your nuts. I know just how you feel and I think it's wonderful that you love your animals so much. It can be very painful at times, though.
I'm so pleased for you that he fish gods took pity and pleased for your fish too. Wayne is probably right - there is every likelihood that there are more fish yet to be seen.
SadieMay - April 14, 2008 01:05 PM (GMT)
I agree with Wayne..where there's 3, there's gotta be more. :)
ScampersSharon - April 14, 2008 02:05 PM (GMT)
Congrats, Elaine! I'm agreeing with Wayne too, bet there's lots!

Congrats KK! Goldfish have a strong will to survive! Some probably found the only liquid spot and hung out there. It's hard to imagine that it didn't freeze solid but it must not have. I've had a few goldfish freeze solid in the shallows; they were 100% dead as a result.
KoiKrazy - April 15, 2008 02:00 AM (GMT)
Yes, there must have been some liquid in there for sure! I laugh when people tell tales of goldfish freezing solid and coming back to life! I am still dumbfounded though :ph43r:
