Yeah some of them are interesting, but others are sad especially if a genetic defect shortens their life. :(

i saw a animal planet special i believe, some turtle farm i guess you would call it in louisiana, they breed RES for the pet trade.... they sale two-headed turtles at over 100 a piece, which is sad that they are exploiting turtles with genetic defects.
Tommy - August 28, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
i wonder who would want a 2 headed turtle.
JarrodRossi - August 28, 2005 10:46 PM (GMT)
i would take one in, if someone had one come out of a batch. i wouldnt pay 100 dollars or sale one for that much if i ever had any babies.
in the wild they pretty much dont stand a chance, because both heads cant go into the shell.

It's sad that such animals are exploited. I saw a two-headed RES at a festival. The poor guy was in a tiny dirty tank. I guess it's no different then when they used to put abnormal people on show and call them freaks. Now, they're just "special." But, when it comes down to it, only a few genes, an egg splitting impartially here and there, and/or fate prevented us from abnormalities or being partially Siamese twins. I have chickens so the headless chicken upsets me the most. To even be able to chop the head off of one of my "babies" is unfathomable.

Well animals cant chose to be changed, thats what makes it sad. If humans want to be freaks, its there chose.
Robyn - September 11, 2005 07:27 PM (GMT)
Actually Tommy, it didn't used to be the choice of people with deformities and special talents. As little as 50 years ago, if a person were born abnormal enough, they would often be exploited or even sold (kind of like slaves) to traveling circuses and forced to show themselves off.

:o really? thats horrible. Happy that doesnt happen anymore.
Robyn - September 12, 2005 12:32 AM (GMT)
It does still occur rarely in the US but still pretty often in some countries.
