:blink: What is an anabantoid? Why is it special? I have cichlids and bettas, are those anabantoids and am I even spelling that right? thanks

Anabantoids, or labyrinth fish, include such fish as bettas and gouramis. They have a labyrinth organ which allows them to utilize atmospheric oxygen (breathe air) if there's not enough oxygen in the water itself. They still have gills, not lungs but can "breathe" air. So, bettas are anabantoids but cichlids are not.
