Our goldfish went nuts and spawned again but this time we only found about 6-8 little survivors that didn't get eaten or sucked up in the filter. Weren't able to find any baby fry food anywhere so they are getting fed pinched and powdered goldfish flakes and seem to be doing ok.
It's hard to guess how old they are but most are just about or barely over 1/4" long. Their eyeballs are cute.... the rest of the baby goldfish look transparent yet. The dad goldfish's name is Sardine so I am thinking of naming one of the new little guys "Sushi". LOL :P
Thanks Robyn. So far my mom is the only person that doesn't think Sushi is a cute name for any fish. LOL I think she will get over it.... eventually.... maybe?
Now, I just have to wait until they get a little bit bigger so that I can tell them apart.
My baby goldfish are now orphans :( One of the baby goldfish looks like it will have a short tail like the mom and two will have a long tail like dad (he was a plain orange comet). None of the babies will look silvery pink like Fifi with a super long tail. Fifi was over a foot long and I have never seen another goldfish that looked like him.
I don't know what happened but it's pretty horrible to see the big tank empty after all these years. Just from a stupid power outage. :( And all my frogs are gone from the pond too. They probably swam away when we had the heavy rains that caused some flooding.
I'm sorry about your goldfish. How long was the power out? Did you have a battery air pump?
