Title: Flooding
Description: My Neck Of The Woods

Here is a video shot from a surveillance plane. No audio though. This is what is currently hitting us. Several bridges are dangerously close to going out, and they are predicting that if the water doesn't drop today there is going to be at least one dam go! At the beginning you can see the Hartland Longest Covered Bridge In The World which was built in the 18oo's (not sure exactly). As of this morning it has about a foot of clearance under it to the water. I live about a 2 minute walk from it.

Our house (and ponds!) are safe. I live up on a hill that isn't in that video, but it is rather unnerving driving across the bridge and you can FEEL the water hitting it!

Derrick are you sure one of your well planned ponds didn't spring a leak there?

Good video, take the high ground any day. FM3

Just heard on the news that there is a house coming down the river! It is headed straight for a dam that they were already very concerned about being weakened because the water is pouring over the top of it. If that house hits the dam hard enough to cause damage it could turn very bad indeed.

How you doing R3d. Are you still safe with all the flooding?
Has there been any major damage near you?

All is safe now. The water is slowly receding, so now there is just a lot of cleaning up and assessing damage for people to do. In Hartland, the lower level of the library got flooded, and the entire boardwalk and pathway along the river is gone, along with the roase bushes and other plants they had along there. But that stuff can all be replaced, it could have been much worse!
