Title: New Plants Causing Feeding Frenzy

I got my Salvinia Natans and Duckweed pond plants yesterday. With the spitter in the pond and the aerator going the water gets pretty churned up. The little plants are pushed all over the place. It make for great fun to watch the fish try to figure out what is their food and what it a plant at feeding time. It looks like a shark feeding frenzy.
I am going to remove the aerator when I get back. With my small pond it keeps the water too churned and the lillies won't like it.

My fish eat any duckweed I put in the main pond. They sometimes eat salvinia but not always. I keep those plants in tub ponds instead. Are your fish eating the plants or just trying to find their food amongst them?

So far the fish are trying to find the food that gets mixed in with the plants. If they grab a plant they just spit it out. It is so funny to watch. I don't think that they have "figured" out that the plants are food too.
I would imagine that once the aerator is removed the plants will find their own nice calm spot and they won't be so churned around.
