hi i live in the canary islands and i have a leapord pleco, he is 8 inchs long and still growing. he doesnt get on with my discus and atacks my little frogs, so i was thinking about putting him our pond. the weather here never drops below 13*c we dont really have seasons summer winter etc, only odd days here and there. one day may be 40* then through december we may have days of 13* and then the following week wold be hot again. will he be ok in the pond its a very big pond in our local botanical gardens and is beautiful and lots of hiding places. i feel mean letting him go but dont want to kill him, many thanks maxine

Hi Maxine. I would think he would be fine in that environment. If it was me, I would do it! You never know until you try, but I am pretty sure he would be okay. The biggest thing would be adjusting him to the new water slowly. Take a thermometer with you and make sure the water temps are very close to the same. Add some of the new water to his container slowly so he doesn't go into shock. If the water temps are the same he could go in quicker. If the temps are quite different, it's best to take you time adding some new water slowly to adjust him.

Hi, Maxine. I replied to the same question you sent to me via e-mail. I said the pleco would probably survive there year round. The only concern is to make sure that he doesn't escape in to the wild. I also mentioned having the temperatures similar.
