Title: Pond Is Destroyed
Description: all fish moved

KoiKrazy - May 16, 2008 12:19 AM (GMT)
Well it was one heck of a day catching fish!! I am officially done and all the fish big and small are moved to their new homes. I had a heck of a time catching the rest of the tiny babies left in the bottom, but I got every single one. Here is a goofy picture my Mom took. A freak thing happened and I netted both of the huge koi in one net from the top o I took off running with them in the net to the clay pond. Too bad the camera or video wasn't out for that cause it was a sight, LOL The fish seem so happy to be back in there and are checking things out. Then.....a stupid King Fisher showed up and speared a small fish and took off. I was so mad! I am going KF hunting tomorrow :ph43r:

Wow...What happened if someone pulled the ladder out?! that's my life...only instead of someone putting the ladder back I would have to sleep in there until I clawed my way out!

Holy Cow!!
Good picture. Looks like you dressed for the occasion!

Nine feet deep it is! Darn good thing you waited for the folks ... a person could get lost down there. :D

Glad to hear that you got them all out .... sorry about the little one going to the Kingfisher.
Nice looking birds, but ..... not so nice for fishkeepers. :( :(

Good luck with the new pond. When do you start?

I am happy to report that I wasn't too cranky while doing this job, so no one pulled the ladder out on me  It wasn't too bad down there, but a big gust of wind came up and the liner flared up and I had a big rock on top holding it down and the rock came flying down at me. It probably could have killed me :(  but it managed to miss me by about a foot! After that I wanted out of there pretty badly, LOL. I fed the fish in their new little tacky pond and everyone was happy and ate well, I guess I didn't traumatize them too bad! The big guys out in the clay pond didn't eat, but I think they might be scared of that King Fisher, he is a pretty bird, but I am going to shoot him and string him up on a pole next to the pond so his friends will get the idea ;) Okay I am sounding a little mean, I could have heat stroke or something, I know I got one heck of a burn today!
I will have to wait till hubby has a few days off to get a machine in here to fill in the pond and dig the new hole before I can get started on the new pond. It shouldn't be too long though...hopefully. It will give me a bit of time to get my plans straight in my head and find a darn liner!!

You look like you are having fun at least! Either that, or you have lost the last little bit of sanity and are about to come out of the pond in one mighty leap! :o

Is that the infamous "pondkini" I see peaking out below the waders? hahahahaha :D

KoiKrazy - May 16, 2008 05:03 PM (GMT)
You know I still have my sanity because I am not standing there looking stupid in just the "pondkini" :P ;)

Hi KoiKrazy,
I'm new here, so please forgive what may be a stupid question, but....why is your pond so deep? It looks scary deep to me! :o Is it because you live so far north and need the depth so that it doesn't freeze? Will your re-built pond be as deep?

Donna

I can answer that for KK She had just finished viewing the movie "Journey to the center of the earth" before digging her now dry 9 foot deep liner pond. ;) Sorry KK could not resist.

When are the plans for the new pond going to be posted?

Deeper than 8 feet there is no chance the moose can dig up the bodies. :o

Hi Donna, Yup you got it right, it's that deep so the pond doesn't freeze solid. The new pond will be about 5 feet deep, I think I will be okay with that. I am going to insulate around the pond under the liner as well. I am going to run a couple extra de icers. The ice got about 2.5 feet this year. It's all just a trial and error thing right now, I will perfect it one of these days.....years!! LOL

Donna, it's only dumb (stupid) if you don't ask. :)

I am full of dumb questions.
