He's what about 15". My pleco is about 16" in a 65 gallon tank. He gets cucumber and an algae wafer every night. Your plecos look like the same kind I have.

they say 21-24 in the wild. he rearranged the tank last night that was nice of him not so much how I would do it but who is to argue with him
he makes the most loud squeeeeel everytime he comes up for air. I mean it makes you look wondering what noise is comming from a FISH tank. He is pretty cool I just feel like he can not move freely and he is pretty active.

I have two plecos that are presently about 8" long (and look alot the the ones in the pictures) and I fear still growing in my 50 gal tank. I always thought of them as the gentle giants because the other much smaller fish didn't seem afraid of them at all. However this morning when I went to feed them, I noticed a small piece of orange under one of the Plecos. I saw it was my male swordtail, who seemed very healthy the night before. The Pleco was eating something else but his body was on top of the swordtail. Well the swordtail wasn't dead but he was severely injured. I put him in a seperate bowl, and tried gently coax him with my finger to swim straight (not turn sideways), but I really didn't what to do :( and I had to go to work. Well when I came home from work tonight, the swordtail was dead. I feel bad because I had him for about a year, he was so pretty and had such a lively, independent personality. -As my plecos are getting bigger and bigger I want to make sure I'm feeding them enough so they don't get aggressive towards the other fish. Right now I'm feeding them a 1/4 cumcumber every two days (because thats how long it takes them to eat it) and a few algae wafers. But maybe it wasn't the Plecos at all about my poor ST, maybe it was some other accident.

I'm sorry. It sounds like the pleco accidently "sat" on the swordtail. The swordtail may have been laying on the bottom or otherwise slower in reacting than usual. Plecos often get blamed for killing fish because they are found eating the dead fish (when in fact they didn't do the killing, just can't resist eating dead fish like most fish). There are some plecos people swear have gone after and killed their fish though. I had my 15" pleco with 1" danios for years, and no danios went missing. They died from fish tuberculosis instead (the pleco is apparently immune).

Awwwwww....... my Littlenessie pleco was just about 18 1/2" inches long and we just lost him two weeks ago when the power went out from a bad storm. The one in the picture is probably the second biggest pleco. There is an even bigger one in a restaurant somewhere in Cadillac Michigan.

Wow! You had a big pleco. I was sorry to hear that he died. Do you think it was low oxygen from the power outage or accumulated pollutants?
