i forgot if i asked this before:
i live on the top of a hill in a hilly town...........
if my frogs, not being fenced in, go down the hill toward the east, they will find about 3 miles or so away brakish, filty water; if they happen to go downward west, in about a mile, they will find a somewhat polluted, interestingly amphibian-crayfish-clear brook that runs through town that has not had anything but turtles, eels, and minnows living in it for about 15 years for some reason - and id KNOW - for ive spent hundreds of hours in it over the better portion of my youth. if the go right, they'll find that brakish water and if they go left, maybe they will find a few blocks away a watery bog that is an acre preserved by the town. in that case, we are speaking of a literal oasis, comming from a formerly great bear spring.
will the green frogs know where to go - or is it by chance that they will head toward the east or west slope toward fresh or salt........
My green frogs seem to wander aimlessly, especially the newly-morphed ones. Some find my farthest pond, some find a pond 1/4 a mile away (that never used to have green frogs until my ponds went in), and some I literally find in the middle of nowhere! So, some frogs may wander but they will listen for moving water and gravitate towards it. If you have a large enough population, they could end up at any of the water areas that you mentioned even if they are polluted or not ideal. If your pond is a nice froggy home, you don't need to worry about losing all of the frogs. They mostly wander off when things become too crowded.
