Title: Algae Control In Wintertime
Description: Ok to use algae-fix?

Ive used algae fix this past summer and it worked great for me. Im wondering if its ok to use it year round. Im in southern california and ive done nothing to 'winterize' my pond - because I dont anticipate the same kind of 'below freezing' conditions that ponders in other parts of the country get.

do you get any ice?

how cold does it get there?

I dont think I will get any ice... if I do, im sure it wouldnt last through the day. The temp will occassionally drop below freezing overnight but it wont stay that cold for an entire 24 hr period.

As things cool, you probably will have less of an algae problem. As long as your pond is warm and active, you can still use the Algae-Fix. I don't like using any algaecides. My two main ponds have almost no algae thanks mostly to lots of plants but also filtration, good bacteria, barley straw, etc. My pond algae page is at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/algae2.htm
