Title: My 1600g (so Far....)

I'll take pictures but right now there is no point! I've measured and am thinking about a 8' Stream with a 50G Bio-Filter with Lava Rock, Bio-Balls, etc. In the stream will be plants like Water Cress, Gold Creeping Jenny, and Water Celery. The main Pond Basin will be about 12' length by 5' Width with Deepness from 6" to 4 feet. This pond might be bigger than 1600 Gallons! This pond will be edged with Flag Stone and the liner will be an EMPD 45-Mil Liner. Today, I got four new feeder Goldfish (I hate myself!) and am QT'ing them until they are healthy and won't be eaten accidently in the infamous feeding frenzy.

I wish I had someone like Robyn around because I don't mind digging but CAN'T PLAN! I'm afraid I'm going to screw up my new pond! She'd probebly yell at me for putting it next to an oak tree though! :D

LOL, well I think ponds are made for screwing up and redoing and screwing up and making a new one, then making it too big, so you make a smaller one, then its too small, so you need to build another pond!! OH WAIT.....that's my life  Just remember when you do plan out your stream to make it at least twice as big as you want the finished stream to be, otherwise you will be like me and after you add the rocks etc. it will be too small and next year you will be building it bigger...like me ;)

KK, I think you're the only one that went bigger to smaller. Did you think you lived in Texas, then remembered? :P :D BTW ( just in case ) Texas is 'known' to grown things big. :D

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't yell!

Our swimming pool is under a 30 year old white oak. In addition to lots of leaves and acorns at various times of the year, we have a nice crop of caterpillar dung in which to swim!

Sure you don't! That poor oak tree isn't doing so well because my parents keep "maintaining" it.

How fun! My pond also gets nasty because of a neighbor's HUGE trees. I hope they die as they are some NASTY trees

A little more info:

Length: 5'
Width: 12'
Depth: 1'-3.5'

Stream: Not sure yet...8' Long? A 50G BioFilter will be running it.

By my calculations, It will hold: ~1620.8 when using the deepest depth. I would round it too about 1600G.

Fish List:
--3 Koi 1 Butterfly, 2 Short Finned (ImaKoi, UraKoi, and Zebra)
--24 Goldfish (Included: 2 Shubunkins, 1 Sarassa Comet)
--3 Orfe
--10 Rosie Red Minnows
--1 Albino Channel Catfish (yes, I know he'll eat the minnows)

KoiKrazy - September 29, 2008 03:04 AM (GMT)
I expect that fish list to keep growing.........and growing.........and growing :P

kENNY - September 29, 2008 09:15 PM (GMT)
Nope. I added a albino channel cat to the list that I forgot about (I'm buying one soon) and found a yellow goldfish (well, two actually) and now my fishie list for that pond is complete.

Your little goldfish is very pretty! Unfortunately, they don't stay that way. It seems he is midway between a color change from bronze/brown to orange.

Little? He's 4" Long. The bowl is 1G because I HATED the 1\2G Bowls.

If he changes to orange that would suck, but I'd still love him. He's a definate male (tubercles) so hopefully next year I'll get some fry from the goldies.

Compared to my 14" goldfish, yes he's little!
