my ghost shrimp keep dying a few days after they molt i found them at the bottom of my tank they were pink please help why do they die??
From my site:
"Many shrimp keepers believe that iodine is essential to help freshwater shrimp complete their molt. In tanks with low iodine, molting shrimp turn white and
die. Adding iodine (as iodide) can help prevent this. Those in the Shrimp Group recommend using half the recommended dosage of Kent Marine Iodine with
water changes."
Mine too have done this. Sometimes they look white and sometimes more pink like you say. Now that I add iodine, this doesn't happen as often but still does sometimes. When it does, it's usually the "elderly" ghost shrimp so it may be partly old age for those shrimp.
