Title: Help!!! I Am Not A Toad Person

My little brother caught a toad the other day and, as most little kids do, fell in love with it. I know what to feed it and everything, but I think it should be released. My mom said no toads in the house, so it's currently on our back porch. After looking it up, I'm pretty sure it's either an AMerican Toad or a Fowler's Toad. Because we live in Southeast Texas, it doesn't get very cold, but I'm still not sure. Do you think the toad would be okay outside or should it be released?

[COLOR=blue]if it gets below 65 farenhite you will need to bring him in, be sure not to keep it in direct sunlight for too long because glassz magnifies the suns heat and it will kill him. he should be ok outside and he would be happier free of course but if you can set him up nicely i9t should be fine. :)

The toad, being native to your area, can withstand whatever the normal temperatures are for your area. When below about 55 degrees F, the toad will stop eating though and start to hibernate. I'm not sure how cold it gets in your part of Texas as the climate varies a lot within that state.

I believe the toad should be released so that it can eat what it was meant to eat and next spring maybe create a new generation of baby toads.

You should realease the toad because they dont do as well if they are wild caught, trust me. You should buy a firebelly toad. they only need a 5 gallon with a water bowl and crickets to eat.
