will dace and rosie minnows, in modest numbers, deter toads from using my pond to breed?

or is it koi and goldfish, and sunnies, that do?

Most small native fish like dace and rosy red minnows will not bother toads or their eggs or tadpoles. The tadpoles taste bad so, in theory, larger fish like goldfish, koi, sunfish, bass, etc. wouldn't eat them either but I think they do. The presence of those larger fish surely would make the toad consider going elsewhere to lay eggs.
