i could use some help on caring for a ribbon snake its my first snake and well im nervous...i would like to know what all he will eat ect. thanks
I've never had a snake myself. Ribbon snakes are not very big. They will probably eat things like crickets, small fish, and baby mice. Your local pet or aquarium store probably sells all sorts of "live foods." You can buy or feed any live animal (except poisonous or dangerous ones) that is up to twice the length of the snakes head or so. You can also feed dead animals by simulating life. Many snake owners buy frozen mice or rats and microwave to warm them up. The heat alone may be enough for the snake to think it's alive. If not, the dead prey animals can be held with tongs and waved near the snake to entice them to strike. I think ribbon snakes would be easy to care for. Being more aquatic, they naturally eat more insects, amphibians, and fish than other snakes. So, it should just a matter of putting appropriately sized fish in the water section of the snake's home. But, again, I don't know much about snakes.
thank you however i released him, he wasnt eating and i figured it best.
