hi i have an african dwarf frog i Know you have to feed them bloodworm( i use frozen) but when i put it in my tank the fish eat it all before it reaches the bottom for the frog.
how can i overcome this proplem?
are there any alternative foods for frogs?
In my tank, the ADF's (African dwarf frogs) have to fight with a few fish for their live blackworms and frozen bloodworms too. I just hope to put in enough that they all get their share. If you use live blackworms, extra won't foul the water as they'll live in the gravel substrate where the frogs can root them out at their leisure. It's best to keep ADF's only with docile fish. If you have a lot of fast, piggy, or large fish with them, you might consider separating the frogs from them so they can get enough food.

I have 2 dwarf frogs in a 10-gallon with 11 various tetras & a common pleco. There is a frog food you can get at the pet store that is small pellets & it sinks to the bottom. They'll also eat flakes that fall to the bottom but that;s not a good long-term diet. I've had my little guys foir about 6 months & they've tripled in size. The water is about 70-80 degrees as the norm. Good luck finding the right feeding method for them :)
Robyn, can i add 3 adfs to a tank with 1 dwarf gourami, 2 honey gouramis, 3 neon tetras, 4 cherry barbs, 5 panda cories, 1 fsae, 1 singapore shrimp, and 3 wood shrimp? I know all the fish and shrimp are compatible but will any of the fish take food away from the adfs?
Your fish will absolutely compete for the ADF's food. While some people can keep ADF's on the commercial dry food, mine would never even touch it that I could see. My ADF's live on live blackworms. I only have 8 glowlight danios, a false SAE, 1 panda cory, and 2 bristlenose plecos with them but they all dash for the blackworms too. If I had more piggy fish like the gouramis, tetras, and barbs, the ADF's might not get very many blackworms. Frozen bloodworms (which aren't worms at all but midge larvae) and other frozen worms and insect larvae (I get white mosquito larvae, yum!) are good choices. With live freshwater "foods", you can "overdose" but it doesn't matter because the animals can continue to live in the tank and be found and eaten more naturally. If you're feeding frozen or commercial foods, it may be more difficult to put in enough food that the ADF's get some but not so much as to overfeed and pollute the tank.
