Robyn,
Do you know of anywhere i can order southern leopard frog tadpoles, in specific?
I noticed one of your sights mentioned you knew where to order salamanders (a store in N. Carolina).
do you think that two-lined [northern variety] salamanders would live and remain in rock crevices in the edging of a garden pond that has a pump fed stream?
(btw, every so often, i find that newt in my pond that i introduced last year )
Sorry, I don't know of a source for leopard frog tadpoles specifically. Most places just have bullfrogs.
Two-lined salamanders like most will spend most of their adulthood in moist and shady woodlands, etc. They may spend a lot of time around your stream and rocks if it's not too hot there.
I'm glad your newt is still around. I put two in years ago and never saw them after release even once.
There is a science store called NASCO, and it sells a frog hatchery kit, where you will either get clawd frog tafpoles, or leopard frog tadpoles, and around 7-12 of them. It depends on the month on which you get, I think now would be clawed frogs, but you can check for yourself.
I hope these frogs will not be killed though, or used for experiments.
