I took this photo while on top of a mountain in Scotland. Can someone please tell me what it is ? I was convinced at the time it was an amphibian, a newt or something, but when I developed the photo is looks more like a reptile.

It was round 3 degrees in scotland up the moutain so I wouldn't have though reptiles would like it up there.

It's definitely a reptile. It looks like a skink to me or perhaps another sort of lizard. I can't see all of its body which would tell us more. I'm not familiar with species native to Scotland. You'd be surprised how cold some reptiles can tolerate it.

Opps moved the pic in a clean up. Robyn thanks very much for the reply. I thought it was a newt at the time as there's loads of frogs up on the mountains, one maountain litterally had frogs every 2 meters or so, you had to be very careful where you were standing !
