Hi, I inherited a goldfish pond along with the purchase of my new home. All four fish survived the winter, but now the pond is TOTALLY GREEN! Of course I know it's algae, but I don't know what to do. I live a super busy life and have VERY little time to deal with this, but I miss seeing the fish! I also understand it will kill them. I do have a pump running which involves water coming out of a pump handle, into a bucket, then falling into the pond, so there is some aeriation going on.....other than that I don't know what to do. Any suggestions on the EASIEST, QUICKEST thing to do would be appreciated.
How big is your pond? Do you have plant cover? Adding lots of plants and good filtration will help the most. Barley straw and good bacteria will also help. Read over my pond algae page at

http://www.fishpondinfo.com/articles.htm#algaeIf your pond is aerated, the suspended algae will not harm the fish. It could during the night when it uses oxygen but with good aeration, the fish shouldn't gasp for air.
