I have a pond with Koi, Shubunkins and Comets.
I put in several Lily plants in drop in pots into the pond.
Something is pulling out the Lily plant and depositing a cone shaped cluster of hard yellowish colored eggs in the pot.
Would appreciate any advise.
Also have Catfish
My koi and sometimes even the goldfish often root water lilies out of their pots. I've not seen catfish (presumably channel catfish) eggs before but I don't think they are hard and yellow. Apple snail eggs are hard and yellow but usually are laid above the water line. If a female lays them in the water, they will not develop. Do you have apple snails? Many species of apple snails will eat water lilies. See applesnail.net if you have them.
Robyn,
I did put a couple of snails in the pond last year but I have seen no trace of them this year and did not think they made it through the winter.
I will keep a look out for them.
Thank you for your reply.
