Hi, I have a new pond and tons of tadpoles!! I am thrilled and feeding them goldfish flakes. They seem to be thriving. Unfortunately, I also have TONS of mosquito larvae. I bought mosquito dunks but when I put them in the pond, the tadpoles immedately went for them! I took them out, I'm afraid of losing my tadpoles!! I lost one batch already after I changed part of the water my mistake. I'm really pulling for these guys and want to do whatever I can to help them along.

Will the mosquito dunks kill them?

Thanks!!

Mel

Mosquito dunks will not harm tadpoles. You can get a liquid Bt from Microbe-Lift now. I use it in smaller ponds where the dunks fall apart or look ugly. If you use that, the tadpoles can't eat it. Older tadpoles often eat mosquito larvae so you may not need as much Bt to control the mosquitoes as the tadpoles grow.

Robyn thank you so much! I have been anxiously awaiting a reply to this message, as I have looked all over the internet for information on this, and have found nothing. I also emailed Summit, the maker of the dunks and they also replied back today that the dunks will not harm the tadpoles! I am going to put them in the pond RIGHT NOW!

Thank you very much and I am thrilled with your site and all the great info!!!
