Title: Toads
Description: Will they eat goldfish Fry?

Our goldfish spawned back in June, and today, we discovered that a toad has taken residence in our pond. I also found one dead baby fish, whose tail was missing, and I'm not sure whether this has anything to do with the toad or not?

the toad will eat anything that can fit in its mouth. Toads eat the whole body not the tail of the goldfish. You cant expect some fry to live if you are keeping them in your main pond. How big is your pond?

Toads only come to water to spawn. Are you sure it's a toad and not a frog? Toads normally show no interest in eating fish (too busy spawning if at a pond). I doubt the toad did anything to the goldfish. It's possible another predator was involved, or the other goldfish ate the tail after the young goldfish died.

But what if the pond is in it's territory, then it must encounter it alot, and learned the fish are a tasty meal. I would buy some waxworms or mealworms and if you see him give him them as a treat so he wont be tempted to eat the goldfish fry.
