in my 15 gallon a day after it was set up, i bought a 4 inch long dojo loach. i loved him so much. unfourtunatly, i didn't know they were largely carnivorous, so it starved to death or died of mental problems. (he was pretty weird.) I thought it ate food pellets. after that, i realized i love loaches. i might not get a bigger tank. if anything, i'm most likely to get a 20 gallon. if i'm lucky, i'll get a 30 gallon. scence i'm giving away some of my fish, is there any loaches i can put with 1 pleco, 1 rainbow shark, 3 bronze cories, 2 rams, 3-5 zebre danios, 1 dwarf gourami and maybe some rosy barbs?
most loaches are nippy and aggressive. Another dojo or kuhli loach should be fine. It sounds like you bought it at a bad store. How long did you have it? the store probably didnt know what to feed it.
I've never had loaches myself but have not heard that the commonly sold ones are particulary aggressive. Dojo and kuhli loaches I thought were pretty calm fish as far as harming others. I know when scared or spooked, Dojo loaches will zip all around really fast. Kuhli loaches can be bundles of energy (or at least the ones I see at the store). I think zebra loaches are the other common species.
zebras can be mixed personalities. Nippy or peaceful. I prefer kuhlis.
