I have a 97 civic HB. Stock motor. Does any body know if I take out my A/C will it give me some power? What would I have to do if I where to do this?

personally i dont think the gains are worth losing the ac unless ur serious about building a race car.....

The AC compressor is on a clutch, so its only freewheeling except when the AC is on, and if the AC is on and you go to WOT, it disengages the clutch on the compressor, so you're still getting full power.
The only real benefit you'll see is the weight reduction if you remove everything AC related(~50lbs).

Keep the a/c i removed the a/c on my old 2001 si and only got 0.82 hp@the wheels! I would rather loose 0.82 hp than be uncomfortable on a hot day!!

Agreed that the gains are minimal but if you still want to do it. Just buy a non a/c belt for your car and change the belt. I'm not a huge a/c fan to begin with so I do it on all my cars anyways. I have a stack of bloody compressors building up on the side of my house right now actuaily. That reminds me, it's time to do a scrap run. rooll

even if people dont like a/c it is always nice on long road trips. there is no arguing that, lol. especially when its raining and hot out!

although taking out the ac system will decrease weight i personally like it. Specially for the kind of heat we get in winnipeg sometimes. Havint he window open is even horrible :S
Like the other guy said don't take it out unless you plannin on makin a pimptastic fastmobile.

by the way sas-lude when you do your h22 swap you will want to keep the a/c compressor in the car when you pull the motor. it will bolt right on to the h22 block. just saves draining and refilling it.
