Sophie will not go in her cot at all, i have tried the let her cry but she just got so worked up that she ended up being sick. My health visitor has told me to put her in the cot, go out and leave her to cry but i can't do it, i hate to see her get into such a state that i go in a get her out. The hv is coming out to see us in the morning to see how i've got on, i don't know whether to just tell her i did leave her when i haven't or tell her that i'm not prepared to see her in distress. Has anyone else been through this?
Aww Trace I know how hard it is :pals: I've been through the exact same with Gabby and it was awfull. But it gets to a point when you really need your bed back. When I decided to do this with Gabby I never left her in the room alone, The 1st night I put her in her cot and tucked her in said "night night mommy loves you" and sat down beside her cot. It took 45mins but eventually she did settle herself to sleep... not without breaking my heart though! Same routine the next night it took 30mins, 3rd night 15mins, 4th night she laid straight down I couldn't belive it! The only thing I would say is to make sure she's tired when you take her to bed I made the mistake of taking her up too early a few months ago and we had a week of hell again. Saying all this I still have am almost 2 year old who doesn't sleep through the night properly lol I had her in my bed at 5 o'clock this morning so I still need to get tough and let her cry to get her to sleep through. Never mind the Hv just go with what works best for you. :pals:
I used to let Josh fall asleep in his pram then put him to bed
asleep, i realised that i had to get out of that habit and put him to bed awake
The first couple of nights was hard as he cried everytime i left the room
then he got used to it and now when he goes to bed i say night mummy see
you in the morning and he waves as i leave his room. He goes to bed around
7:30-8pm and sleeps right through to 7am or later. It is hard but if you stick to
it, it will get easy
